Good deals and Cute Things!

Since we have found out our baby is a boy, we have been doing a little shopping and we are getting ready to order nursery furniture and bedding! I am so excited!! On the weekend of December 10th, Kris and I decided to ride down to Orlando to look for him a new truck and do a little baby shopping. I had looked in the yellow pages for baby stores in Orlando before we left and came across a store named Once Upon A Child. We spent all day Saturday looking for a truck but didn't have any success, so before it got to late in the evening we decided to find this store. Thankfully we were already on the same side of town as the store and was able to find it fairly quickly. When we got to the store, we realized it was a children's consignment store. Since I am all about a bargain, I was very excited! Kris and I went straight to the boy clothing section. Everything was well organized by sizes and to our surprise it was ALL in prefect condition and everything was name brand. It reminded me of Plato's Closet, except for babies and children. Kris and I had a hay-day picking our Little Man out some cute outfits. We figure he will get a lot of clothing at his shower for his first three months of life, so we decided to buy mainly 6-12 months clothing. Let me just say... Preston Kade has a nice selection of clothing for next winter! Everything we bought was Gap, Gymboree, Osh Kosh, Carter's, or The Children's Place and some of it still had the original price tags still on it. :) We also picked him out a couple pairs of shoes to go with some of his outfits. I was also able to find a new Boppy and a Bumbo w/ tray. They were both half priced and brand new. We highly recommend this store to anyone who has children. They have several stores in FL, just google the store and find the locations! You will not be disappointed!

It's A Boy!

On November 18th, we were scheduled for a regular appointment with Dr. M. At the time, I was one day from being 18 weeks so I wasn't sure if Dr. M would be able to take a sneak peek and see if he could tell us what the sex of the baby was. I had heard from several others that use Dr. M, that he really likes to see if he can guess the sex and if I beg him he may look for me. So of course, I told him we would REALLY like to find out the sex if at all possible! We had to wait a little bit longer to get the sonogram room, but we didn't mind at all! Finally, after what felt like two hours, he brought us back to the room and brought Baby Keen up on the monitor. I could tell instantly he was a BOY! Dr. M said, "Do you know what that is?" I laughed and said,"I believe so!" Kris is the mean time is about to do cart-wheels right there in the room. He was saying,"Yes! Yes! I got a boy!" My mom was also with us and all she could do was smile and say "Oh my goodness! It's a boy! It's a boy!" Since she has two daughters and one granddaughter, having a boy is certainly something new for her and she is very excited! We wanted to wait until we got home to tell my mother and father- in-love and my grandparents, but we were way to excited! Kris called his parents and I called my Granny and shared the good news! They were all so excited! Now the planning and buying may begin! :)

Sixteen "sweet" weeks ago...

It has been sixteen "sweet" weeks since God decided it was time for Kris and I to become parents. Earlier in the year, Kris and I had talked about having a baby and we discussed when we would start trying for a little one. I am a teacher, so of course, I was thinking we will try to plan it so that the baby would be born in the summer. However, God's time is always different. One Sunday in May, our pastors called us out and Sister Alicia said, "God told me that it was time for ya'll to have a baby." Well, that was enough said! We started trying immediately. I literally thought, it would happen instantly. Yes, I know I can be very naive. It didn't "happen" over night, but it did happen in July, which was such a blessing for us. I have heard of horror stories of people trying for years before they conceive. Finally, on the morning of August 18th, I took a test and IT WAS POSITIVE! Kris was still asleep, so I quietly cuddled up next to him and whispered, "You're going to be a Daddy." He was wide awake instantly! He was like "What? Really? Are you sure?" lol... it was such a sweet moment. The worst part was waiting to find the right time to tell the whole family. We waited 11 very long days before we told our family. We decided to tell everyone at my birthday gathering on August 29. We had taken a picture of Kris and I holding a sign that said "We Are Pregnant" and put it in a frame. I pulled that out of Kris' gift bag to me. The look on everyone's face was absolutely priceless!

We called and set an appointment with Dr. M immediately! Our first visit with him was on September 13, 2011. That was the first time we were able to hear our Baby's heart beat, as well as, take it's first picture. We seen Dr. M in October, and will go back November 18th.

New to Blogging!

Hey Ya'll! So, this is my very first blog. I am still trying to figure this whole thing out, but hopefully will figure it all out soon. I want to start blogging so I have a "scrapbook" of our journey through life during pregnancy and with our new little one that will arrive at the end of April.
